International TV-Film documentation with an extra theatrical exploitation due to a man’s 80. birthday who left the world of film to begin relieving the distress of the poorest and least with his own hands. 25 years ago he called up to an absurd and hopeless seeming fundraising campaign on the TV-show “Wetten, dass…”: Every third should donate just 1 DM, so that no child in Sahel has to die of hunger for one year. The effect was 1.4 million DM, which changed the actor’s life basically. Instead of transferring the money to established relief organizations, he decided to go to Ethiopia to relieve the distress of the poorest and least with his own hands. Also without the help from the big relief organizations he did the impossible. Single-handedly he built fountains, school buildings and hospitals together with the relevant people and so helped them to help themselves.
